The Story

Daytona Beach from the air on a linen card from about 1937 to 1945: the pier, the Boardwalk, the coquina Bandshell, and cars parked on the sand. The hard-packed beach was a racecourse from 1903. Sir Malcolm Campbell set the last land speed record here on March 7, 1935, at 276 miles an hour, and then the beach was too short, so the records moved to Bonneville. Stock cars raced a beach-and-road course from 1936 to 1958, and NASCAR was founded a few blocks away at the Streamline Hotel in December 1947. The speedway opened in 1959. You can still drive on the beach today, at 10 miles an hour.

Printed on enhanced matte paper in 10 x 8 and 14 x 11 unframed, and 16 x 12 and 18 x 12 framed or unframed. Framed pieces come in a black, white, or red oak alder frame under clear acrylic, ready to hang; the matted option adds a white mat inside the frame. Unframed prints ship flat. Made to order, so allow 2 to 5 business days before it ships.
